The vector magnetometer of Flux Gate Magnetometer (FGM) is one of the payloads on satellite A of Macau Science Satellite #1 (MSS-1). The main task is to detect the geomagnetic vector field of the South Atlantic geomagnetic anomaly.

The instrument chooses flux gate magnetometer using the three-axis concentric sensor technique and the digital closed-loop feedback technology to measure vector magnetic field in space with high precision and low noise.
